Ingredients of Mutton Kofta
- 1/2 Kg mutton (finely minced)
- 1 Egg
- 2 tbsp chana (ground & sieved), roasted
- 2 tsp coriander, chopped
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds – soaked in water
- 4 onions, sliced
- 4 tomatoes (skinned & pureed)
- 15-20 Garlic pods
- 1 1/2 inch ginger
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp whole pepper
- 5-6 Cloves
- 5 green cardamoms
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 1/2 cups yogurt – whipped
- 1 cup oil
- Water
- 2 black cardamoms
- 2 Bay leaves
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
How to Make Mutton Kofta
- Grind the garlic, ginger and poppy seeds together. Keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the onions to it.
- Fry till it gets golden in colour.
- Pour some water to it and stir.
- Take another pan and mix the whole spices and a cup of water and steam for 10-15 minutes. Keep aside.
- In the onion mixture add the ginger-garlic paste and the poppy seeds mixture and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Mix the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix the chopped tomatoes also and stir well..
- In the meantime, mix the chana powder, coriander leaves, egg, and the mutton mince with salt.
- Take a little oil and make small koftas and keep them aside. Mix it with the onion mixture.
- Pour the water from the entire spices and add to the muttn koftas.
- Boil mutton koftas for approximately 5-6 minutes and then mix yogurt.
- Diminish the heat and cook for about 45 minutes.
- Now your mutton kofta is prepared to serve. You can seving it with paratha or rice and roti.
